About the Fraction to Decimal Converter

Fractions, decimals and percentages are three ways of writing the same number, and school work, recipes, tool sizes and financial reporting each prefer a different one. This converter moves between all three: enter three eighths and it returns 0.375 and 37.5 percent; enter 0.625 and it returns five eighths.

The decimal-to-fraction direction uses a continued-fraction expansion, which finds the simplest fraction that matches your decimal rather than just putting the digits over a power of ten.
