About the Final Grade Calculator
Before a final exam every student asks the same question: what do I actually need? The answer is a weighted average rearranged. Your existing coursework counts for whatever share the final does not, so the required score is the target minus your carried-forward points, divided by the weight of the final. This calculator does that rearrangement and also shows what happens at every plausible exam score.
Two results are worth checking before you panic or relax. The best possible overall grade tells you whether your target is even reachable, and the grade you keep with a zero tells you how much cushion you already have. If the required score comes out above 100 percent, aim at the next grade band down instead of burning a week on an impossible target.
How to use the Final Grade Calculator
- Enter your current grade in the course as a percentage.
- Enter the overall grade you are aiming for.
- Slide the weight to the share the final exam carries, then read the score you need.
